Commodore 128 Alive! Newsletter
October 2006
Well, we finally have a proper domain name, you can visit us at www.commodore128.org The site is undergoing building & there's still some "stuff" missing, but it's mostly there. The forum software has been migrated to the hosted site, I'm currently doing testing to ensure it works correctly (there are a few bugs) prior to discontinuing the old link.

The filebase is also being ported over, the first part of the move entails HTMLing everything & getting the base off Olate Download Centre, although statistics will no longer be available, the descriptions look cleaner (PHP stuffs up apostrophes big time).

As part of  the move, you can now also get a commodore128.org email address, PM me on the forums (link) with your name, required username & password & I'll set things up & send you the details. There's no charge for this & storage is 10 megabytes.

A reminder that our second coding competition is active, this one is open to all original game compositions - the info can be seen at this thread. No entries yet, but you have until December to get 'em in!

I'm looking  for submissions for the new site. Any old software you might have, manual scans (GIF, JPG , text or PDF) are welcome. Not just Commodore manuals but software manuals too. I'm hoping to expand on this & add a review system for commercial 128 releases eventually - including box scans, so if you have thos send 'em in. Contact details are on the site.

As an aside, we recently celebrated our 19th birthday on the 16th of October. In some form or another we've been around for the best part of two decades. Next year marks our 20th anniversary & there will be year long 'celebrations' including prizes & give-aways.

I have to say I'm amazed at the wealth of information that's appearing on the forums - my next major task is to collate & distill this into a knowledgebase so that information is easy to find for the C128 users. As part of this there is also a C128 FAQ available on the main site, please help this out by contributing on the page.

You'll also see that I've added a C128 adverts page. If you have any scans of magazine ads, please send those in for inclusion - they'll be put up & naturally you'll be credited.
