Upgrade time!
« on: June 17, 2012, 09:38 AM »
I'll be upgrading the forum software to SMF 2.02 very shortly and there will be a short disruption. As well all mods will be backed out and reinstalled.

As part of this upgrade I'll also install multiple themes - and for this I need your help. Visit http://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/index.php?action=search;version[]=68 to see the themes that are available for this release and reply back if you want one of them installed.

I would probably use the default theme, whatever that may be.  Since you asked I had a look.  Had trouble with search, but browse worked fine.

2.02 themes that caught my eye were Anecdota, Adk Cool Black, Elegant Mind, and Gray Style.
I'm kupo for kupo nuts!

Hi! Took a while to go through the list, but I found Concept3 and Actualism to be the most appealing themes for me. Could you download them too?  :)

Done (although I misread this over my morning coffee as "appalling" rather than "appealing" and wondered why you wanted 'em :)

Upgrade will happen this Sunday - forum will be unavailable for about an hour from 10am (Eastern Standard Time (Australian of course!)).

Default theme is the one currently in use.

Backout of all mods has commenced - the boards will look a little "bare" for a few days.

I decided (as I had a little spare time) to do the upgrade now.

Tasks completed:

Database upgraded
Themes installed (there are now 18 of them - you can choose them under "Profile")

I thought things looked a little different.

So far everything seems to be okay.  Only complaint is on the main page the recent posts table seems smaller (only lists 4?).  Of course that is with default theme.  I haven't tried any of the others yet.

---------
Another thing I noticed is on the left of posts where it shows member information, it lists the join date twice.  Once near the top and again near the bottom.  Not really a problem, just redundant.

Sorry if I sound all negative.  Overall it seems to be a very smooth transition, so good job there.

Configurable - I can extend this to whatever people are happy with.

I was bored and tried changing the theme.  Nice!  I've been trying different themes and they all seem to work well.  Now I just need to try them all and decide which I like best.  Thanks Lance!!
