Running Ultima V in native C128 mode.
« on: June 14, 2012, 04:42 AM »
Hi guys,

I'm looking for a version of Ultima V that will run natively in C128 mode. The version I acquired from here;

http://singularcrew.hu/ide64warez/index2.php?menu=fullgamez

Which I ran from my uIEC and it didn't work in 128 mode, launching from 128 mode all I received was a blank screen with a '64K only' message.

I heard that the 128 version had much better sound than the PC, Amiga and Atari ST versions, the 64 mode doesn't have any sound for the intro.

Here's a vid that I believe is the 128 version;
Ultima V: Warriors of Destiny (Commodore 64/128 intro)

Is there a 128 version of Ultima that can be used on the uIEC? Or do I have to decompress the individual D64's onto floppies?

AFAIK its the same disks as of the C64, you just BOOT the C128 with the 1st disk into the drive... I think the game uses the C64 mode of the C128
I have to do some tests now, as I have a version of U5, (on D64s) that runs with SOUND on the initial screen under VICE 128....

[Update]

The version that I have works OK under the C128, tested with the uIEC/SD too!  :D
