Want to buy: C128D internal 1571 Drive and controller Board

(1/1)

QChem:
Hi

I am Looking for the internal 1571D Drive mechanism and Controller Board for a C128D (Plastic case)

My Internal Drive died a long time ago, or rather the head assembly died. I managed to find a new head assembly online. Happy as a clam i pulled my old C128D down from the attic to discover that the entire drive mechanism and controller board had gone missing ???.
Seems someone here considered the mechanism and board "junk".

So if anyone has a spare Internal drive and controller board for the Plastic C128D even one where the head assembly is defective I'm in the marked for buying it.

IIRC, the plastic C128D has the  same mechanism and controller board as a regular 1571.

QChem:
RobertB you are correct that the mechanism is the same, and the functionality of the controller probably as well.
But the layout of the controller PCB differs between the external drive and the internal one.

So if i bought a external some modding will have to be done in order to fit the controller in the case and I wold like to avoid that.

So I am still hoping to buy the controller and mechanism out of a Plastic C128D. Maybe someone has a C128D where the mainboard is dead?

Comparing the close-up photos with the faraway shot of the plastic C128D, I do not see what has to be modded.

It looks the same to me,
