1581 (price check)
« on: May 01, 2011, 01:45 AM »
Was wondering what a 1581 is going for these days. Not including Ebay silliness.

$80 - 100 seems to be the going rate for a 1581 in good condition.

Yes, on eBay they can sell for even more...

I have 5 of them that I probably can't sell. :(  These are ones that I modified the PCB so that it would work with a 1.44 MB unit.  Great thing is they're quiet as heck and you can use DSHD disks (elec tape over the HD "hole" which are easier to sort.  Problem is I've found no drive (cheaply that is) that can align with the original faceplate.  All attempts so far to muck with the eject "arm" to it lines up don't stand up to abuse.  So I currently use one sans faceplate.    I could cut the 1581 face to make the normal drive stick through but that would be just wrong.
Cheers!  -=Maraud=-
