Hello to everyone....
« on: May 08, 2011, 06:03 PM »
Hello everyone, been commodore user for a long time now think about 1984-1985 after having Spectrum 16 upgraded it to 48 then moved to MSX 1- Toshiba HX-10 < was better than the speccy  ;) later I got a C64 for my birthday, played games then a year or 2 later got a 1541 within weeks I was programming in machine code, used to love learning about the machine and what it could do (nothings changed much LOL), now I can afford them I got a 128D and I'm really looking forward to see what this can do, I'll be upgrading it as time/funds allow along with a few ad-dons like 1581 if one ever turns up on fleebay UK that is reasonable, right now its getting cleaned up and repaired, damaged while in transit, visibly :( so I'll have to patch some of the case and paint it, unless someone has a spare case? probably not but had to ask  ;D looking forward to getting to know folks here and let the learning begin 8)

Aw, that is too bad.  Are you talking about a plastic C128D or a metal C128DCR?

Plastic 128D, the front plastic clips on the left side were broken and part of the top case, top-left corner were broken off, and an old chip on the bottom-right corner of the bottom case, will be looking for another in better condition, in the mean time I've patched the front and top case, just need to smooth off the plastic and fill in the gap on the bottom part of the case, keyboard has been restored with retr0-bright, nice to see the original colour for a change 8) case badge is plastic so I hope that will be OK to retr0-bright when I do the case.

James.

Attached pics of the damage...

     That is sad.

At least you have the knowledge and experience to repair the plastic.

My plastic C128D is yellowed, too.  One day I'll give it the retr0brite solution, but it's not a priority right now.
