SX64 mods
moparram:
Anyone have an SX64 and modified it? Looking for some good ideas. So far I took the monitor out of mine and replaced it with an LCD tv. The Floppy controller went bad, so I replaced it with a regular 1541 board (I tried swapping out chips according to Ray Carlsen's page to no avail). I'm actually looking to put a microIEC in it as well. With the LCD TV, I can also hook it up to cable and watch it too, but I need a switch to turn of the SX64 portion to eliminate a little bit of interference.

It also comes with JiffyDOS, computer reset switch, a second audio port (RCA jack) in the rear, and all of Ray Carlsen's suggested mods.
Happy New Year!

Ah, I almost forgot my very first mod to a SX-64. It was back in 1985, and I put one of those flat, fresnel, magnifying lens cards in front of the SX's 5-inch monitor. Ooo, a larger image for the middle-school students to see... ;)

I converted mine to a DX-64... ;-)

I have 3 more SX-64's (unfortunately with missing keyboards) that I might mod. I have parts to make one more "DX". I purchased a 6" LCD TV to install but it's a little big. I couldn't find a cheap 5" screen. What did you use?
Do you know of any 5-6" LCD's with S-Video input?
I had a strange idea to make a VIC-20-SX but the VIC motherboard won't fit in the SX case.

I used a Coby 5.6" LCD TV. The composite input was used. I bought it off Ebay for $20.00 a couple years ago, and now we have digital tv, I decided to put it in the SX64.
