B128 Keyboard Plungers?
« on: February 07, 2013, 12:43 AM »
Hi all,

I'm in the process of reviving a B128, and while pulling the keys off the keyboard for cleaning, I managed to snap off the ends of two of the keyboard plungers.  Does anyone know of a source for replacements, or have any spares that I can pay you for?  I'm looking for two.  I've attached a pic.

Or is there perhaps a more common keyboard that I could pull plungers from?

Thanks!

Whoa!  That's a unique plunger assembly.  I can't say I have seen another one like that in any other C= keyboard.

It's a cool design - there's a bridge of what looks like clear silicone on the bottom, and that suspends the hammer over the contacts.  Unfortunately, that uniqueness makes it troublesome to find replacements  :)

If I can't find a source for spares, my next step will probably be either silicone casting to make replacements out of resin, or 3D scanning and printing.

There was a huge lot of B/ CBM-II keyboards, spare keys and parts on EBAY.DE a month or two ago. I got outbid... keep checking more will come.
So, somewhere, someone has lots of them. I'd be interested in hearing if you decide to 3D print replacements!
Steve
