Do the lights dim in the neighborhood when you turn those all on, Andrew? I'm afraid to power up my 2 1571s and 11 1541s at the same time.

No, there's no dimming of lights... 

And it's been on 24/7 that way since I sold my Lt Kernal to Mangelore.  Eight of the 10 drives are used for file transfer directories.  Since that's not a highly-used section on my BBS, I'm considering doing away with it when the temperatures start to rise here in Southern California.  My computer "office" is set up in my garage, so it's not heated in the winter, which is actually probably the best thing for this hardware.  But it's also not air conditioned in the summer, which is NOT a good thing.  Anyway...  I've still got a few months to think about it...

Time to heat-sink those chips and power transistors.  Extra spacing between the stacked drives would be good as would running a fan over all to promote some airflow.  :-)

If I ran my computer in an unheated garage here in Iowa, the chips would become supercomputing in the winter and would melt outright in the summer.

It was -16F yesterday morning, and 1F inside my garage.

The 1571's do not heat up that much, which is why I have them stacked the way I do, with a couple of the 1541's on top of 1571's.  But I'll probably end up doing like I had said, and just do away with the file transfer section.  That way, I could just run the BBS with two 1571's (in double-sided mode, of course).  Or maybe keep just a couple 1571's for file transfers...  Anyway, I'll get it figured out.
