Suggested file transfer protocols :

Xmodem - works with telnet

Xmodem/1K - works with telnet

Xmodem/1K-g - works with telnet

Ymodem - works with telnet

Ymodem-g - works with telnet

Zmodem - telnet can be iffy, but is the fastest protocol over dial-up

SeaLink - probably obsolete, unknown performance under telnet

Punter - required for a lot of C= terminal programs, unknown performance under telnet, there is a variety that can transfer multiple files called Multi-Punter

WXmodem - Windowed Xmodem, probably obsolete, unknown performance under telnet

Kermit - highly reliable under telnet & there is a C128 implementation

JMO: Xmodem (regular), Ymodem and Ymodem-G (multi-file variety?), and Punter for backwards compatibility. That should cover things nicely. Zmodem was great for dial-up, so maybe that, too. I'm back-and-forth with Zmodem.

The only term I know that supports ZModem on the 128 is DesTerm 3, and it's buggier than hell.

Y-Modem and Multi-Punter are the most important, in my opinion.

What about for users logging in with other than a Commodore ?

Y-Modem is pretty universally supported.  Technically, an implementation of Y-Modem covers X-Modem CRC anyways, so we can support that too.
