GEOS / Re: GeoWrite 2.2 upgrade

Todd Elliott was selling the upgrade, but because Todd has left the scene, it is not commercially available.

GEOS / Re: Wheels 128 MakeSysDisk - Need Master Disk (or do I?)
« on: November 17, 2011, 11:30 AM »
There are NO Master copies in the wild, NONE of them work. I'm trying to find a Wheels 128 v4.2 or v4.4 disk myself.

So far NO LUCK.

I just used that program tonight to write a Wheels D81 to disk.. Awesome program.

One Note : It will NOT work with 3.5 USB drives.

Herdware / Re: C128 80-column display on modern devices
« on: July 12, 2011, 02:19 AM »
You're correct; the GBS-8220 is no good for PAL C128 owners.  I also found a forum post from someone saying that he had 3 GBS-8220s, and one would take 50hz while the other two would not.  Seems pretty worthless for 50hz video; I guess it's not designed for it.

I did get the GBS-8220 working for 80-column mode on my NTSC C128 tonight.  It does not take positive polarity sync.  The sync signal must be composite, negative polarity, and less than 5v..  I used all the gates on a 74HCT00 NAND chip to make it work.  First I inverted the H and V sync signals (which are positive polarity) from the C128's RGB output, using 1 gate each.  Then I fed these 2 negative polarity outputs into one NAND gate to combine them, then fed that back into the last NAND gate to finally get a negative polarity composite sync.  Then I stuck a 470 or 580 or so ohm resistor on the output to drop the voltage, and the GBS-8220 synced to it perfectly.  Now I gotta work on getting the colors right and reducing all the horrible ringing in the RGB lines.

That's great! I have one of these boards but couldn't get it to work with straight thru wire connections. Since I'm no electronic genius, Any chance of some sort of drawing of what goes where etc.. ?

I originally bought one of the GBS-8220 boards from jammaboards.com in NJ so I could hook up my Jamma P.O.W and RASTAN Arcade PCB's to my 19" LCD.. Works Great for that.
Any more info would be great. I know a BUNCH of people that want their NTSC 128's hooked to an LCD in 80 Column.

Have a good one and thanks.

Ok folks GREAT NEWS!! I found a copy of the Megapatch 3 for GEOS 128 and HAVE it installed. TO save myself the time and effort of typing all the info again, go to my blog at http://www.n2dvm.com/blog

Links to ALL the files I used are right there. About time someone got the files out to the public.. :) Kind of a pain digging them up but now it's DONE, ENJOY.

That adapter is sweet, I have one in my C128, Use the F1 key to access it. Lots of nice utils in it.  I need to get another one for my 128DCR now.

Ah, the mind is playing tricks on me.  After digging into a box, I found Megapatch 3 for the C128 on a 1581 disk, sent to me by Robert Woolf of Florida.

Any chance of Posting the File Robert? Would like to check it out sometime.

Thanks for letting us know about it.

Here you go :

I don't suppose there is an unlocked/master copy of an English version floating around ? :-)

And a 128 version?

No to either question, I was given the MP3 file in a large batch of files. I myself sure would like the 128 version, Was there even one? I've never read anything about it.

Have you tried the drive on another commodore? Have you tried a different Data cable?

Herdware / Re: Help! Dead 128!
« on: June 03, 2010, 07:32 AM »
Thanks for the tip. I dropped the VIC into my working 128 and it displayed the same behavior, so I guess we can chalk this one up to a dead VIC. Unfortunately, that's one part I don't have a spare for, so I guess I'm going to have to sell this for a parts machine after all. If anyone's interested, I'd like maybe $10 + S/H.

Nice easy fix, I'm sure someone has a VIC Chip they could get to you...

I picked up this 128DCR Last week off of Ebay for $29. Yes $29.

Re: Picked up another 128DCR

It supposedly works and needs a little cleaning. But the factory seal is still intact on the back. What do you think? Good deal? :D

Yeah what he said "You Suck!" Lol... I'm going to be getting my first 128DCR This Sunday w/1902 Monitor, 1750REU, 1581, 2 - 1571's an MPS803 printer and some other odds and ends for $150. I just have to go get it... Cost me about $40 in gas and 8 hrs of my time.... WORTH IT!!!

Enjoy your system, Congrats...
