Software / Re: External Function ROMs
« on: May 18, 2013, 06:06 PM »
Hi!

I downloaded it. I saw in HEX edtior there Commodore identifier "CBM".

EPROMs never contains first two address bytes. They're in CBM format.

Hi!

I want to recommend you 1MB Internal Function ROM which includes all known EPROMs and is programmeble by Megabit Programmer.
I have it inside U36 socket of 128DCR.

BTW. I didn't knew about BASIC 8 v1 and v2, only one version I know, also 1571GEOS don't know.

If you have binary images of BASIC8 v1, v2 and 1571GEOS, please attach it to reply to share between all users.

News, views, help & info / NEED HELP: Advanced VIC modes
« on: May 12, 2013, 05:58 AM »
Hi!

In development of AQUA interface we found lot of VIC modes and its properties... like resolution, number of colors, used sprites and colors in color cells...

We found not so good description of these modes:

AFLI, INUFLI, MUFLI, MUIFLI, MUSCU,UIFLI,TriFLI

Can anybody help us with description like: resolution, number of displayed colors, if are sprites used, color cells and number of colors per cell?

I was never interested in VIC personally, everytime is for me VDC the favorite...

Many thanks for every help, reply of comments.

Hi RC!

Try attached file.
It is Byte Boiler 1.3 which supports REU, SCPU and Flash8...

I tested it not.

Hi!

As everybody knows in assembler is easy to print 16-bit digit in DEC format to screen:
LO-byte in X, HI-byte in A then JSR $8E32...

Is easy to print 8-bit digit in HEX format:
digit in A, then JSR $B8C2

EXIST ROUTINE TO PRINT 8-bit DIGIT IN DEC FORMAT?

WHY?
storing zero value into A and 8-bit digit into X consumes more memory than print it in HEX format..

Of course is known routine to convert value 0-99 to two ASCII characters representing digit in DEC format: A = digit (lees than 100) then JSR $F9FB

Also, IS POSSIBLE TO CALL INPUT FROM ASSEMBLER?

I was searching Mapping The C128, and maybe I did it faulty, but not found...

Many thanks for every help, reply or comments.

Hi RC!

Today I tested Risen from oblivion and Kresstage 3 in 16-bit native mode of SCPU128.

Risen from oblivion works, but with many bugs.
Krestage 3 I wanted to see at first in VICE - there in 64 mode of C128 works not. In VICE64 works.

On real C128 and in 16-bit native mode of SCPU128 WORKS NOT!

So, bad results.

Hi RC!

OK, if you create this extension, create two - one for me. Of course I'll pay all, parts, work, shippping.

I'll be maybe first tester.

Let me know what do you mean.

Hi RC!

I'm fan of making C128 THE BEST machine, I'm fan of your ideas.

I can help with software support. If your ideas will be succesfull or not, my support will be here too.

I'm glad of your modification VDC RAM size... and I believe that's only beginning...

look at our page: http://ace128.mirkosoft.sk/herdware.html

I own both. AgNeovo X-22 is universal for all devices, 15kHz xxx is only for VDC...

These devices allows me to display non-flickering VIC and VDC e.g. 320×400 (VIC-IIe interlaced) or 640×400 136 colors VDC interlaced.

VIC only on LCD, VDC on LCD or converter.

Herdware / Re: A 65816 development board?
« on: May 04, 2013, 09:35 AM »
Idea of any mode:

flickering two modes - deinterlacing devices are very good available.

Mode1: 640×480 interlaced 136 colors 8×1 color cells
Mode2: 80×60 interlaced textmode 16 colors 8×8 color cells

If can be frequency adjusted interlaced mode will be possible to display.

Result: 640×480 136 colors graphic + 80×60 textmode

Other posibilities: easiest sprite emulation - and that's only beginnig - of course frequency is main limit - displaying two interlaced modes and switching between is too hard, but maybe you want to laugh... not impossible - maybe...

Hi RC!

I'm mapping your ideas and storing into one file as they're published...

Ideas are great, but not easy to realize...

My long time wished idea was to make VDC RAM twice space: 128kB (like C900 which had the same chip as the flat C128 and C128D - 8563)

If you have any idea how to do this first, I'll buy your solution and I do all for software support. In case of twice VDC RAM space is sure to be applied in ACE128TOS...

As first, if I can: Find any solution to make VDC RAM at least 128kB... when you'lll be success, I'll support all your production with software.
Of course my NO1 is programming ACE128TOS with more team friends and at finishing 8-bit Edition it will no end. preparing 16-bit Edition and support of both. Your hardware tricks then will be NO2.

I'm behind line one month in PC project, so, it's not easy share time PC/ACE128, when I finish PC project I can share time ACE128/YOU.

I don't want more PC or other platform projects, I leave PC scene and whole work will be in spare time on Commodore 128 platform...

My real work has nothing with computers and computers always were and are and will be my hobby.

So, good luck! Let us know more and more, success or failed things.

Today I'll test Krestage 3 and Risen from Oblivion in SCPU128 native mode.

Maybe are my words only to laugh, but my hobby can be also crazy... :-)

Hi!

Very interesant, reading last your topics, you have very good ideas, please share it with us, I want to try your ideas... In other topic you wanted to try any software on real SCPU128, I'll do it this weekend...

Programming / Re: Trying the 16 bit mode of the SuperCPU / Flash8
« on: April 30, 2013, 06:43 AM »
Hi!

I'm owner of SCPU128 with 16MB RAM...

Native mode of WDC65816 CPU is 16-bit with 24-bit address bus.
You can switch between modes, also there is possible to set Accumulator, X, Y regs to be 16-bit or 8-bit...

Many things works many not...

In case of programming 16-bit mode try to use Turbo Assembler where specify CPU which is in code used.
Or you can try Virtual Assembler 16 - direct at real machine in C64 mode or C64. This assembler is by Protovision.

Hi!

I have spare 8563R9 only, two 8568 I sold longer time ago... but try it at Amibay... maybe you'll find any, I sold it there

Herdware / Re: VDC composite monochrome & DCR
« on: April 27, 2013, 03:55 AM »
Hi!

Maybe adapter is possible to create, but why decrease capabilities of 8568?

H-Sync, V-Sync and RDY, also 38th register allows to produce 21kHz output and H-Sync polarity change to display EGA mode (50/60Hz), of course 16 colors only...

Maybe I don't write truth, so, if, then correct my reply...

Herdware / Re: VDC composite monochrome & DCR
« on: April 27, 2013, 12:36 AM »
Hi!

I read in your last  reply that you can replace faulty 8568 with 8563 - THIS IS NOT TRUTH!

8568 and 8563 are not interchangeable! Different pinout, 8568 has composite HSYNC, VSYNC, and RDY interrupt and 38 registers instead 8563s 37...

The screenshots looks good... in my case is screen faulty or missing any output...

Also, many thanks, I'll read that thread completely, maybe I'll find solution.

Miro

19
That's truth, as title says: Graphics - no necessary others...

In case 16kB is maximum 640×206 monochrome, 640×176 8×8 color cells, 640×136 8×2 color cells, 640×160 8×4 color cells...

But it's only about graphics.

Miro

Hi all!

It's not so fantastic like looks title of this thread, but sometimes is meaning that 16kB VDC RAM can't show pretty graphics...

In case of interlaced modes it is truth.

But also 16kB VDC RAM is possible to use any graphics...

Try attached bootable D81 or D64,,, whole work on this mode is made by Dirk Vroomen - best VDC graphician I mean... mode was only my idea...

So, try it and let us know what do you think...

Herdware / VDC composite monochrome & DCR
« on: April 17, 2013, 10:24 AM »
Hi!

I tried to create monochrome composite VDC output by connecting pin 7 to signal and pin 2 to ground.
I'm owner of 3rd C128DCR, 2 are longer time ago defective, I was owner of 2 flat C128.

I tried it never on flat C128, now first time at C128DCR...

Problem: NO PICTURE or MISMATCH.

I think, only idea, that problem of DCR is in used VDC chip. DCR has instead of flat and D, the 8568 VDC chip with

composite HSYNC, VSYNC, and RDY interrupt. D and flat has 8563...

But I'm not sure if is problem there, look at picture below of connection.

Many thanks for every help, reply or comments.

Hi!

I created own binaries for EPROMs and first time tried it in VICE to work.

In case of VICE 2.3 succesfull internal or external, in case of VICE 2.4.x was always problem with internal EPROM...

Please write more about your problems, maybe I can help...

BTW it was my first experience with IRQ on C128...when I changed C64 to C128...

Now I add everytime name and nick if anyone helps me with programming.

If you found your help with this overclocking, let me know, I add your name to sourcecode to never forget again.

Many thanks.
