Geos 128 Megapatch 3 never worked before on my PAL 128 DCR using the GBS-8220 converter.
Now works fine selecting NTSC output on the AD724 converter and NTSC_M and 640x480 resolution output on DScaler !

I can imagine what a pain it would be to get all the holes aligned and sized correctly ... not fun with plastic (which is easy to work), so even more impressive with thick metal. Great work!
The aluminium Hammond enclosures are very well documented, and together the component datasheets and the eagle software, is not so difficult to make a template and drill the holes at the exact position. Only need to take care to drill the holes starting from a 1 mm diameter bit, and step by step increasing the bit diameter up to final hole size. For the bigger hole and the subd connector hole, the only way is to file step by step and a lot of patience.
rbm: Send me the parts list and Eagle files.
For anyone interested there are attached all needed eagle files including the case panel holes templates. I am sorry but I do not offer this work, it takes a lot of time and I do it only for fun.
Any screen shots? Here some working pics.
After testing a lot of vga converters with inconsistent results, finally I decided to build a complete svideo solution for any Commodore computer using the classic AD724.
The box converter includes:
Audio in, grounded when no plug is inserted
PAL/NTSC selector for VDC
VDC/VIC output selector
Chroma and Luma adjust (only for VIC output)
There are attached some pics.
I used a decoder to detect the brown and everything works fine, the video quality is suberb, most of all when is used together the DScaler windows sosftware and a cheap usb video capture device.
If anyone is interested I can send the complete parts list and The PCB eagle files.
I am really happy with the results !

Hi Hydrophilic. Attached there is the same wheels D81 image with the international keyboard mapped. Sorry, but I am using a German 128DCR and I prefer the same keyboard for it. Thanks !

Available again including the d81 disk image (see the post above).

Sorry. The file is online again.

If anyone is interested I´ve uploaded a full dnp bootable image including:
Wheels 128 updated to v4.4
Geoshell build in
All unlocked and working.

I forgot one question. Do not copy any turbo loader file, otherwise will not boot.

Hi, I have found a trick that allow to make any d81 and dnp images bootable. It´s easy and you dont need to have the master disk anymore !!!!!
Download any wheels 128 d64 disk image and the latest update v.44 from the wild, then create the D81 or DNP image, format and copy all wheels system files on the images.
The trick is to execute the update over the D81 or DNP images, and makes it bootable !
Obviously, you can not update the DNP image using Vice emulator, and a C128 and two sd2iec are needed (I don´t have the 1581 drive)
Try it, be sure this will work, I have now both images working fine from the sd2iec.
Hi Hydrophilic. I tried all possibilities using all logic gates inverting and not but no lucky. Something is wrong or missing and maybe the solution is other way.
I found other solutions using some PNP amplifiers. Shall I try it ? What do you think ? Also attached you can see the test bar colors where looks exactly as the RGB version (when synced of course).
Thank you for your feedback !
I´ve done a RGB to YPbPr adapter on a breadboard but can´t get a stable image using the C-128 while works perfect on the Amiga. The image synchronize and lose the sync randomly (see the pictures attached).
I tried to combine the sync signals with a XOR, NAND and NOR gates but any of them works and the best resusts are using the LM1881 sync separator and the composite monochrome signal.
The RGBI to RGBS adapter attached to the breadboard works fine on the GBS-8220 combining the syncs on a triple NOR gate like the Richard DAC but this solution doesn´t work on the component converters. Why ?
Does anyone have any idea ?
OK, with the adapter sure will work. But the question is if will work directly inserted on the socket. According the schematics J16 and J18 should be cutted and J15 and J17 should be connected. Anyone tried before go ahead ?
Hi, I have a 128DCR with the U18 2364 charset prom broken and need to be replaced. Anyone knows if a 2764 eprom can be used as a replacement ? The 2364 have 24 pins, the U18 socket and the 27c64 have 28 pins but looking on the schematics is not clear if will works.
Hi, I build this adapter based on the Richard42 schematics and the results are impressive, a lot better than other solutions. It´s a handmade PCB, so if anyone would try to make by himself, let me know and I will send a pm with the two side board bmp file and silk screen ready to print and build.
The adapter size is 1,60" x 1,80" and gives the 0,7v RGB signals (16 colors with brown fix) and 2v Csync. The Hsync, Vsync and composite signal from C-128 are also available on the output connector. Ready for use on any converter !
Thank you Richard for sharing your work !
I think it´s important to say, but my GBS-8220 V.3 dated 2011.04.02 can hadle PAL interlaced modes on my C-128 DCR German and SAMSUNG SyncMaster T240 (see the attached pics from The Tokra demos). Anyone have the same board ?
Thank you Richard.
I´m going to make one pcb (using Eagle and tone transfer method and ironing) with the 74244 buffers but without op-amps at the output and sure will works.
And other test on a protoboard using op-amps at the output but converting the color space from RGB to Component. Then I will be able to use the cheap Mygica HD Game Box as "all in one solution" for the C-128 because have S-Video and Component inputs, but not RGB. This converter uses the same 24 bit Tview 5725 as the GB-8220.
I have some LMH-6722 quad video op-amps but are SOIC, and first need to make a SOIC to DIP adaptor.
I´ll post some pics and results next weekend.
I have done the Richard V3 schematic on a protoboard and works fine ! The brown color looks really brown ..... I not using any 74244 buffer and op-amps yet and maybe are not needed. What do you think ? Maybe need only a little resistor adjust, but look promising. Please Richard, could you share your resistor values ? Thank you !
After some time I connected again my two C-128D and C-128DCR computers, and to my suprprise on the DCR model the image is black and white !
Everything seems to work fine but the image is black and white over both VIC video outputs, composiete ans S-Video.
Any idea why it happens and what can I check ?
Thank you !
